Media Literacy for the 21st Century
Ofcom and University of Ulster conference on Media Literacy

Where: University of Ulster, Magee campus, BT48 7JL

Ofcom in partnership with the University of Ulster are holding a conference on how new thinking on creative technology can help deliver media literacy in the 21st Century. 

The Conference will be chaired by Dr Paul Moore, Head of School of Creative Arts, University of Ulster and Ofcom Content Board Member. 

The day will run as follows:

  • Opening Address: Stewart Purvis, Partner, Content & Standards, Ofcom and Chair, Digital Britain Working Group on Media Literacy
  • The New Digital Ecology: Anthony Lilley, Chief Executive, Magic Lantern Productions
  • The Importance of Gaming: Michael Callaghan, Lecturer in Computing and Intelligent Systems, UU
  • The Digital Classroom: Teresa Kane, Teacher and Literacy Co-ordinator, St Mary's PS, Tempo
  • Workshops: Blogging, YouTube, Gaming, Social Networking
  • Media Literacy NI – Challenges and Next Steps: Anthony Lilley, Mark Adair, Head of Public Policy, Corporate & Community Affairs, BBC NI, Bernard McCloskey, Head of Education, Northern Ireland Screen and Eileen Kelly, Director, EGSA
  • Future-proofing Media Literacy: Adam Singer, Visiting Professor of Creative Technologies, UU
  • Closing Address: Joanne McMullan, Head of Broadcasting and Telecommunications, Ofcom NI
